Please go to this link to join for courses that you/students are interested in. https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in/

KINDLY FOLLOW THESE IMPORTANT STEPS:

  • Learners have to say YES to the question ‘Are you part of a Local Chapter’
  • Choose the correct college name from the dropdown. This is very important; else the learner will not be available in your SPOC login
  • Students choose the Profession as ‘Student’
  • Faculty choose the Profession as ‘Faculty’ (Not Employed)
  • Use the same email id for enrolling to courses & exam registration. Assignments submitted through one mail id & exam registered through another mail id will not be accepted
  • NEW: Please note that the exam registration for the 12 week courses will be closed along with the set one 4wk and 8wk courses.

Under the guidance of our Vice Chairman, Sri M Narendra Krishna Garu, we have launched the new initiative #narensuggt, #mnkreads, aimed at fostering a reading culture among students. Each month, we will introduce 10 books based on VC Sir’s recommendations. We encourage everyone to embrace the habit of reading. For January, we recommend “Deep Work” by Carl Newport.

GATE – 2024 Notification Announced

GATE

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level exam that assesses candidates for comprehensive understanding in various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and Humanities.

GATE 2024 is being organised by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

GATE ORGANISATION

IISc Bengaluru is the Organising Institute for GATE 2024. GATE 2024 is being conducted by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs comprising IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

OPPORTUNITIES

Candidates who qualify in GATE can seek admission with possible financial assistance to Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, and Humanities; and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering, Science, and Humanities, in institutions supported by Ministry of Education (MoE) and other Government agencies. GATE score is also used by some colleges and institutions for admission to postgraduate programs without MoE scholarship. Several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have also been using GATE score for recruitment.

GATE TEST PAPERS

GATE 2024 will have a total of 30 test papers comprising full papers and sectional papers. Candidates have the option to appear for one or two test papers from the allowed two-paper combinations. The GATE score obtained by the candidates will remain valid for a period of three years from the date of announcement of results.

GATE ONLINE APPLICATION – Expected to open by 24th August 2023

Internships for toppers with course instructors

NPTEL is working to improve the skills and employability of students and has recognized internship as a tool to prepare the students for higher studies and also for taking up jobs in an industry. One of the unique and salient features of NPTEL process is that it enables students from all over the country to get access to the course content which is taught at the IITs.

The Summer Fellowship at the IITs (https://sfp.iitm.ac.in/) is a very prestigious programme which is open to students who have completed their 3rd year of engineering or first year of PG degree and the entry criteria is quite high with emphasis on their educational achievements and other work such as projects, research done.

NPTEL wishes to replicate this programme – but with a difference – this would be for toppers in the NPTEL courses. The students may have completed 2 or 3 years of Engineering or 1 year of their PG education.

The faculty members are also excited about taking them in as they know what the student has learned and excelled in – which is their own course.
