Internships for toppers with course instructors
NPTEL is working to improve the skills and employability of students and has recognized internship as a tool to prepare the students for higher studies and also for taking up jobs in an industry. One of the unique and salient features of NPTEL process is that it enables students from all over the country to get access to the course content which is taught at the IITs.
The Summer Fellowship at the IITs (https://sfp.iitm.ac.in/) is a very prestigious programme which is open to students who have completed their 3rd year of engineering or first year of PG degree and the entry criteria is quite high with emphasis on their educational achievements and other work such as projects, research done.
NPTEL wishes to replicate this programme – but with a difference – this would be for toppers in the NPTEL courses. The students may have completed 2 or 3 years of Engineering or 1 year of their PG education.
The faculty members are also excited about taking them in as they know what the student has learned and excelled in – which is their own course.
